Why We Do It

the simplest of similes,
the death of metaphors,
so eager for a robot
we make one of ourselves

the distance and uncertainty
we maintain assiduously,
between ourselves and reality
automates our pov

all we seem to be doing
is adding in more words eschewing
our having an idea
in any way unique-a

e.g.  (scene for 1, 2 or 3)
"I was thinking, you know, like,
what if he really means it,
 you know what I mean?
like he's really bringing some kind of,
sorta like a, well, what he maybe thinks
could be like, RIGHT, but, you know,
 from his own whatever,
like he's got a right to his opinion,
 know what I mean?
 Of course, everything is relative.
It is what it is, right?"
