Living under Fear

English: on tree branches.
branches unobscured by leaves
 groan and creak and sob
beneath an icy brilliant
 blessing to our eyes,
a dread calamity to trees

a night and day of rain and snow
sheaths entire stands,
  their limbs and branches,
 every bud,
grandmother massive trunks moan
and grieve their young;
 a second night's begun

  war's arhythmic bombing
now close, now from afar
ancient branches fracture, crack,
 roar crushing death below

tonight all the living
share with trees, every one,
 the weight of endless fearing
of what is to come
